The Flag Retreat at Magic Kingdom is one of the park’s most meaningful traditions and has taken place at Town Square since Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. Each day, guests and Cast Members pause as the American flag is lowered and the park honors the service and sacrifice of members of the United States Armed Forces. Surrounded by the cheerful energy of Main Street, U.S.A., the ceremony creates a noticeably quieter and more reflective moment in the middle of a busy Disney day.
