Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party may be known for its parade, fireworks and characters, but plenty of Magic Kingdom attractions stay open during the event too. A few rides receive party-exclusive Halloween touches, while others offer the chance to

experience familiar favorites after dark with potentially shorter waits. The real trick is deciding how much of your limited party time you want to spend riding attractions. This guide covers the 2026 Halloween overlays, scheduled attractions and the rides Orlando Is Cool thinks are most worth squeezing into your night.
Last updated: August 6, 2026. Attraction availability, operating hours and Halloween experiences may change during the party season.
MNSSHP Rides and Overlays Information
Location: Magic Kingdom
Party Hours: 7:00 PM to midnight
Early Entry: Beginning at 4:00 PM with a valid MNSSHP ticket
Attractions Included: Yes
Lightning Lane Required: No
Halloween Overlays: Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
Height Requirements: Regular attraction requirements still apply
Disney currently lists three attractions with special party touches and a larger selection of regular Magic Kingdom rides scheduled to operate during MNSSHP. Offerings remain subject to change.
Halloween Ride Overlays
The MNSSHP attraction overlays are not complete ride transformations. Instead, Disney adds special lighting, music or Halloween twists that make the experience feel different from a regular Magic Kingdom visit.
The three confirmed 2026 experiences are:
🌑 Space Mountain in complete darkness with spooky music
🫖 Mad Tea Party with special lighting effects
🍬 Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor as a trick-or-treat location
These are the rides to prioritize if you want to experience something you cannot normally find during an ordinary park day.
Space Mountain
Space Mountain becomes noticeably spookier during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The attraction operates in pitch-black darkness while a party-exclusive soundtrack plays around you. Space Mountain is already dark during normal operation, but there are usually enough lights and glowing effects to help you see portions of the track and surrounding structure. During the party version, those visual clues disappear, making every turn, dip and sudden movement feel more intense.
Location: Tomorrowland
Height Requirement: 44 inches
Type of Overlay: Complete darkness and spooky music
Intensity: More intense than the regular version
This is probably the most dramatic of the three attraction overlays. Guests who already find Space Mountain rough or disorienting should know that removing the visible track can make the ride feel even wilder.
Mad Tea Party
Mad Tea Party receives colorful lighting effects that change the atmosphere around the attraction during the party. The spinning teacups, music and Halloween lighting create a bright, slightly chaotic scene in Fantasyland. This overlay is more visual than spooky. It does not change the ride itself, but it makes the attraction feel livelier and gives you a fun view whether you ride or simply stop to watch. Riding after dark is especially fun!
Location: Fantasyland
Height Requirement: Any height
Type of Overlay: Special lighting and nighttime effects
Intensity: Depends on how quickly you spin your teacup
Mad Tea Party is a quick overlay to add while moving through Fantasyland. It does not require a major time commitment, especially when the line is short.
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor becomes part attraction and part trick-or-treat stop during MNSSHP. Guests can collect candy while enjoying Halloween jokes and monster-sized silliness inside the Tomorrowland theater.
The experience is interactive, so audience members may become part of the show. It also provides an indoor break from the heat, rain and party crowds.
Location: Tomorrowland
Height Requirement: Any height
Type of Overlay: Halloween humor and trick-or-treating
Best For: Families, younger children and guests needing an indoor break
This is a good choice when you want candy and entertainment at the same time. It also gives your group a chance to sit down without completely stepping away from the party.
Haunted Mansion
Haunted Mansion does not receive a full ride overlay during MNSSHP, but the attraction feels perfectly at home during the Halloween party. The mansion, queue and surrounding area become especially atmospheric after dark, with spooky lighting,

PhotoPass opportunities and plenty of ghostly energy around Liberty Square.
Live residents such as Madame Carlotta, Madame Renatta or Broome the Butler have traditionally appeared outside the mansion to joke and interact with passing guests. These are atmospheric performances rather than formal meet-and-greets, so there is no traditional line, autograph or guaranteed character schedule.
Location: Liberty Square
Height Requirement: Any height
Type of Attraction: Dark ride
Halloween Overlay: No full ride overlay
Even without major changes inside the attraction, Haunted Mansion is one of the most fitting rides to experience during MNSSHP. The downside is that you can ride it during any regular Magic Kingdom day, so it may not be worth using a large portion of your party time if the line is long.
Adventureland Attractions
The following Adventureland attractions are scheduled to operate during the 2026 party:
🏴☠️ Pirates of the Caribbean
🧞 The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
🌴 Jungle Cruise
None of these attractions has a confirmed Halloween overlay. Pirates of the Caribbean fits the nighttime atmosphere well, while Jungle Cruise and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin may be easier to experience during the 4:00 PM early-entry window.
Frontierland Attractions
The following Frontierland attractions are scheduled to operate:
⛰️ Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
💦 Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Both rides are fun after dark, especially Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. However, neither has a confirmed Halloween overlay, so consider riding before 7:00 PM or later in the evening when waits are manageable.
Liberty Square Attractions
The following Liberty Square attraction is scheduled to operate:
👻 Haunted Mansion
This is the only party attraction currently listed in Liberty Square, and it is naturally one of the most popular choices on a Halloween night.
Fantasyland Attractions
The following Fantasyland attractions are scheduled to operate:
🧜 Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid
⛏️ Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
🎠 Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
🌍 “it’s a small world”
🏴☠️ Peter Pan’s Flight
🍯 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
🫖 Mad Tea Party
Fantasyland has one of the largest groups of open attractions. Mad Tea Party is the only confirmed overlay in this area, so try to complete the regular Fantasyland rides during early entry or save them for later when entertainment pulls crowds elsewhere.
Storybook Circus Attractions
The following Storybook Circus attractions are scheduled to operate:
🐘 Dumbo the Flying Elephant
🎢 The Barnstormer
These can be good options for families with younger children, especially when lines are short. Storybook Circus may also have party characters and other activities nearby, making it easy to combine several experiences in one stop.
Tomorrowland Attractions
The following Tomorrowland attractions are scheduled to operate:
🚀 Astro Orbiter
🔫 Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
🌑 Space Mountain
🏎️ Tomorrowland Speedway
🛸 Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
🏍️ TRON Lightcycle / Run
Tomorrowland has the largest concentration of party attractions, including two of the three confirmed Halloween experiences. Space Mountain is the major overlay, while Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor serves as a treat location with Halloween humor.
Are the Rides Worth Your Party Time?
That depends on the ride.
Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor are worth considering because they offer party-specific changes. Haunted Mansion is also a natural fit for Halloween, even though the ride itself remains largely unchanged. Regular attractions are a tougher call. MNSSHP tickets are expensive, and the exclusive entertainment, characters and trick-or-treating are only available during the party. Spending the entire night riding attractions you could experience during a regular park day may not be the best use of your ticket. That does not mean you should avoid rides completely. A nearly empty queue for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON Lightcycle / Run or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure can be hard to pass up. The key is enjoying rides when the wait is reasonable rather than building your whole evening around them.
Use Early Entry for Regular Attractions
Your MNSSHP ticket allows you to enter Magic Kingdom beginning at 4:00 PM, three hours before the party officially starts. This is one of the best times to complete regular attractions that do not have Halloween overlays.
Between 4:00 and 7:00 PM, consider riding attractions such as:
🎢 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
🏍️ TRON Lightcycle / Run
💦 Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
🍯 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
🌴 Jungle Cruise
🏴☠️ Pirates of the Caribbean
The park will still have daytime guests during this period, so waits may not be especially low. However, every regular ride completed before 7:00 PM leaves more official party time for entertainment, characters, candy and overlays.
Final Thoughts
The attraction overlays add a little extra Halloween fun to familiar Magic Kingdom favorites, but they are only one part of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Space Mountain delivers the biggest transformation, Mad Tea Party brings colorful nighttime energy and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor mixes candy with plenty of monster humor.
Orlando Is Cool recommends using early entry for ordinary attractions, prioritizing the party overlays after 7:00 PM and jumping into other ride queues only when the wait is too good to ignore. You probably cannot ride everything and still see every major show, meet characters, collect candy and try specialty food. Choose the experiences that matter most, keep an eye on wait times and leave enough room in your evening for a few spooky surprises. 🎃✨
