Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is packed with more than parades, fireworks and rides. Trick-or-treat trails, rare character greetings, Halloween photos and little surprises throughout Magic Kingdom help make the entire park feel like one big Disney Halloween celebration. This guide covers the candy, characters, PhotoPass opportunities and party extras you will want to know about before your night begins.

Entering the Party

Guests with a valid MNSSHP ticket may enter Magic Kingdom beginning at 4:00 PM, giving you three extra hours before the party officially begins. After entering, follow the signs and Cast Member directions to receive your party wristband, treat bag, event map and any other available party materials.
Guests already inside Magic Kingdom do not need to exit and reenter. Wristband distribution locations are usually available throughout the park, although the exact locations may vary. Once the party begins, Cast Members will check for wristbands before allowing guests into treat trails, attraction queues and other party-exclusive areas.

Trick-or-Treating

Trick-or-treating is for everyone at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, including adults. Costumes are not required, and each guest receives a complimentary treat bag.

Treat locations are spread throughout Magic Kingdom and marked on the event map. Some are simple outdoor stops, while others take guests through buildings or attraction spaces. Candy lines may look long, but they often move quickly because guests continue walking as treats are handed out. The complimentary bag fills surprisingly fast, so bringing a larger reusable bag is helpful. Pick up candy as you naturally move through each land instead of crossing the park just to reach a particular trail.

Allergy-Friendly Treats

Guests with food allergies can request a teal-colored treat bag when they arrive. Participating treat locations may provide allergy-friendly items or teal tokens that can be exchanged at designated allergy centers. The exact centers and procedures can change, so check the party map when you arrive and speak with a Cast Member before collecting or eating any treats. Guests with serious allergies should still review ingredient information carefully.

Character Meet-and-Greets

MNSSHP gives guests opportunities to meet characters who may not regularly appear at Magic Kingdom, along with familiar Disney friends wearing special Halloween costumes. Character greetings can take up a large portion of the party, especially when

rare characters or unusual pairings are involved. Choose one or two characters who truly matter to you rather than trying to meet everyone. Confirmed and expected party characters may include Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes, Jack Skellington and Sally, Winnie the Pooh in his bumblebee costume, Ariel and Prince Eric, Aladdin and Jasmine, and Donald, Daisy and Pluto in Storybook Circus. The full character list and locations may not be available until closer to your party date.

Meeting Jack Skellington and Sally

Jack Skellington and Sally are traditionally among the most popular character greetings at MNSSHP, and their wait can reach two hours during prime party time.

If meeting them is a priority, enter Magic Kingdom as close to 4:00 PM as possible and go directly to their line. They may not begin greeting immediately, but using the early-entry window for the wait can save valuable party time later. Guests who are only mildly interested should think carefully before joining a very long line. There is far too much happening during MNSSHP to spend a large part of the evening waiting for a character who is not one of your must-dos.

PhotoPass and Magic Shots

Disney PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout Magic Kingdom during the party, including near the entrance, Main Street, Cinderella Castle, Haunted Mansion, select character greetings and several attractions. Party-exclusive Magic Shots and props may add ghosts, villains, characters or other Halloween effects after the photo is taken, so ask each photographer what is available at that location. PhotoPass may also capture attraction photos or videos on rides such as Haunted Mansion, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and TRON Lightcycle / Run. Photographers will take your picture without an additional sitting fee, but downloading the images costs extra unless your photos are covered by Memory Maker, an Annual Pass benefit or another eligible photo package.

Party Maps and Easy-to-Miss Extras

Pick up a paper party map even if you normally use your phone. It can help you quickly locate treat trails, character greetings, PhotoPass photographers, entertainment, specialty food, merchandise and open attractions. The My Disney Experience app is helpful, but crowded events can drain your battery and sometimes make the app slow to load. A paper map and screenshots of the entertainment schedule give you a reliable backup. Some of the best party extras are not formal attractions. Special lighting, projections, music, fog effects, Halloween decorations and roaming characters can make familiar areas of Magic Kingdom feel completely different after dark. Slow down occasionally and enjoy the atmosphere instead of rushing from one planned stop to the next.
